Aleksander Mitrovic leads Al-Hilal to comeback victory over Al-Ittihad

Al-Ahli remain the only team with a 100% record in Saudi Pro League

Al-Hilal have made probably the comeback of the season after winning their tie 4-3 against the defending champions Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24.

Despite taking the lead twice in the match, Al-Ittihad failed to maintain their 100% record in the league.

This was a very highly anticipated clash between two of the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia. Defending champions Al-Ittihad hosted Al-Hilal at their home ground.

The match started with a goal in the 16th minute by Romarinho. He netted his second goal of the season. Aleksandar Mitrovic levelled the scoring just after four minutes.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men responded with two goals. Karim Benzema scored in the 38th minute and Abderrazak Hamdallah scored in the added time at the end of the first half. Al-Ittihad had a comfortable 3-1 lead going into the second half.

Jorge Jesus’ side gave a huge response after the half-time talk. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored on the hour mark and then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 65th minute.

Salem Al Dawsari gave the final blow to the home side and netted the winner in the 71st minute. This ended Al-Ittihad’s 100% record in the league.

This win takes Al-Hilal to the top of the table in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24. They are unbeaten in the first five matches and collected 13 points. Al-Ittihad have dropped to second place and have collected 12 points in five games.

Aleksandar Mitrovic became the fourth player to score a hat-trick this season. His teammate Malcom, Cristiano Ronaldo and Roberto Firmino have already scored three goals in a game.

Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli will play their matches on Saturday. Al-Ahli have a chance to go to the top of the table with a win.
