Euphorias Barbie Ferreira announces show exit ahead of Season 3
Barbie Ferreira announced on her Instagram story Aug. 24 she would no longer be portraying the role of Kat Hernandez in the HBO drama.

Barbie Ferreira is exiting HBO drama "Euphoria" after four years and two seasons.

The 25-year-old actress announced on her Instagram story Wednesday she would no longer be portraying the role of Kat Hernandez in the HBO series. The post came with a drawing of her "Euphoria" character created by her co-star Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules on the show.

"After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," Ferreira wrote. "I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today."

Ferreira's Kat is a plus-sized teen who begins her journey as a body-conscious teen before transforming into a sex-positive dominatrix. She is often the third wheel in the best friendship between Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney).

The model and actress continued: "I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it."

Rumors that Ferreira and show creator Sam Levinson feuded on set while filming Season 2 began to churn out while the second installment of the show was airing. Ferreira lightly addressed those whisperings in a March interview with Insider.

"What's interesting about this season is there are so many more eyes on it that even the news cycle has been so interesting to see," she said. "I've seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue and some of it's kind of like mundane little things."

Since the end of the second season of "Euphoria," Ferreira has modeled for YSL Beauty and taken on roles including in Jordan Peele's new thriller, "Nope."

"Euphoria" is nominated for several primetime Emmys including outstanding drama series. Series star Zendaya won a lead actress Emmy in 2020 for her role as Rue; she’s nominated for the same category this year.
