The United Steelworkers union (USW) Director for Western Canada, Scott Lunny, extends appreciation to Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley for her outstanding leadership and service in office following today’s announcement that she is stepping down as leader of the Alberta NDP.

Director Lunny released the following statement:

As leader of the Alberta NDP, Rachel Notley has consistently demonstrated her unwavering dedication to building a stronger Alberta for everyone. Throughout her tenure, Rachel has shown exceptional leadership, advocating for workers’ rights and championing the values of our union.

Rachel’s tireless efforts and countless hours devoted to the betterment of Alberta have not gone unnoticed. Her advocacy for the working class has earned her the respect and admiration of many as she was a strong voice for all Albertans – not just those at the top.

As Rachel steps down from her role, she leaves a legacy of positive change and progress. Her contributions to the province will be remembered for years to come and her absence will be felt by all Albertans, especially those in the labour movement.

On behalf of the USW, I extend my sincerest thanks for Rachel’s dedicated service and wish her well in her next endeavours. May this period be a time for reflection on the impact she has made and the positive change she has brought to Alberta.
