Is there a new Back To The Future 4 coming out? Trailer debunked

Arguably, no decade in cinema history boasts more iconic movies than the 1980s, with so many of its blockbusters and even independent offerings becoming forever entrenched in the realm of popular culture. From Top Gun to The Lost Boys, there are so many cherished efforts from the 1980s, but come on. Can you really beat Back To The Future?
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the sci-fi-infused comedy film was released in 1985 and introduced the world to one of the coolest characters of all time… Biff Tannen—just kidding. Obviously, it’s Marty McFly, played by the magnificent Michael J. Fox.
His unforgettable time travel tale has been loved by all ages ever since and the trilogy, with sequels released in 1989 and 1990, is one of the most widely adored throughout cinema history.
A number of trilogies have been extended with a fourth installment over the years, but is the recent Back To The Future 4 trailer you may have seen too good to be true?

Recently, a fake trailer for Back To The Future 4 was posted by KrayZmnd on Facebook along with the caption “I’ve waited so long for this!”
The trailer shows news footage and then the iconic DeLorean from the original trilogy embarking on another time travel odyssey.
At the time of writing, the trailer has been viewed a whopping 12 million times and has racked up an impressive 186k shared and 270k likes. Many are sharing it under the belief that it’s real.
Unfortunately, the trailer is fan-made and isn’t official. Screen Culture posted it on YouTube one year ago and their upload has 275k views.
While the trailer that is being shared extensively is fake, it’s still worth contemplating a prevalent question: Is there a new Back To The Future coming out that doesn’t have a trailer yet?

No, a fourth Back To The Future movie has not been officially announced.
Indeed, MovieWeb reports that Back To The Future producer Bob Gale and director Robert Zemeckis have both expressed multiple times that there shouldn’t be a follow-up to the original trilogy; their permission is required to make a fourth film too.
Taking this into consideration, it’s highly unlikely that a fourth film in the series will ever become a reality.
While this may dishearten some fans, there will arguably be twice as many fans who feel that the trilogy should remain as such. A trilogy.

The Express spoke to Bob as recently as 2021 and asked him how he’d react if Robert called him to say he wanted to make a fourth movie:
“He wouldn’t do that! That’s just not going to happen, no! There’s a couple of things. First of all, do you want to see a Back to the Future movie without Michael J Fox? No, you don’t. Michael J Fox has Parkinson’s disease. Do you want to see Marty McFly suffering from Parkinson’s disease? No, you don’t want that either.”
He continued: “Do you even want to see Michael J Fox at age 60 [playing Marty]? No, you don’t want to see that either. No more than you want to see…I won’t name any names…they bring some of these actors out with mothballs for some of these sequels and you think, ‘That’s not the version of that character I want to see!’”
Elaborating, Bob said that he thinks people are really asking for “something that makes me feel the same way I felt when I first saw Back to the Future” when they ask for a new movie and not actually what a fourth installment would ultimately be.
