Report: Brandon Ingram agrees to three-year, $120M extension with ...

One of the Toronto Raptors' newest members is staying with the team for the long term.
Brandon Ingram has agreed to a three-year, $120-million contract extension with the Raptors, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday. The deal also includes a player option for the final year in 2027-28.
Ingram could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He was also eligible for a full five-year, $269 million extension or a three-year, $144 million extension, so the Raptors were able to sign him at a slight discount.
The Raptors acquired Ingram in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans prior to the trade deadline last week in exchange for Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2031 second-round pick.
The 2026 first-round pick is a top-four protected pick from Indiana that the Raptors acquired in a blockbuster deal for all-star forward Pascal Siakam last year.
Ingram hasn't played for the Raptors yet as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
The extension shows that the Raptors see Ingram as a big part of their future, adding a shot-creator to their young core of Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett.
The Duke product is one of just four players to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists over the past four seasons. His primary offensive strength in his mid-range game, as he trails only former Raptor DeMar DeRozan in mid-range shots made per game.
That could be a big boost for Toronto's offence, as the Raptors rank last in made off-the-dribble jumpers per game this season, per Second Spectrum.
Ingram’s biggest concern throughout his near-decade-long career has been staying healthy enough to be on the floor. After playing 79 games as a rookie, he’s failed to suit up for more than 64 games in a season and hasn’t reached at least 60 in two of the last three years.
He’s on pace to fall short of that number yet again as he’s battled multiple injuries throughout the 2024-25 campaign — notably, missing 26 consecutive games with the ankle injury. In the 18 games he has played, Ingram is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 37.4 per cent from deep.
