Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They compete in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was founded in 1971 as the New England Whalers and joined the NHL in 1979 as the Hartford Whalers. In 1997, the team relocated to North Carolina and became the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes have had success in the NHL, winning the Stanley Cup in 2006 and making the playoffs multiple times. In the 2020-2021 season, the Hurricanes finished third in the Central Division and made it to the second round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
