Follow live updates of Everton vs. Manchester United as the Red Devils aim to respond to their derby defeat to Manchester City.

Manchester United's attempts to bounce back from their thrashing by Manchester City began in inauspicious fashion at Goodison Park.

A stunning strike from Alex Iwobi has given Everton an early lead, with Casemiro having lost possession in his own half in the build-up to the goal.

The Red Devils responded through Antony, who struck his third goal in as many Premier League matches after being played in by Marcus Rashford.

Everton vs. Manchester United live commentary, highlights

15 mins: GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED! It's Antony again! This time, it's Gueye who loses the ball in the centre circle and the Red Devils pounce. Fernandes finds Rashford, who plays a throughball into the path of Antony, and the Brazilian places a left-foot finish out of Pickford's reach.

9 mins: United are seeking a quick response but Everton are defending well, with every challenge met by a huge cheer from the home fans. For the fourth time in five games in all competitions, Ten Hag's men have conceded first.

5 mins: GOAL FOR EVERTON! What a strike from Alex Iwobi! Casemiro is dispossessed by Onana in his own half and Gray breaks towards the box. He lays is off to Iwobi, who takes a touch and curls a lovely finish out of the reach of De Gea. What a start for Everton!

3 mins: An early chance on the break for Everton, but Gordon's cross is way, way too deep. There's then a chance for Rashford to make some headway in the Toffees' box, but he's shepherded away by Conor Coady.

KO: It's go at Goodison Park!

5 mins to KO: We're almost ready for the off. Can this game match the excitement of Arsenal vs. Liverpool? Let's hope so...

20 mins to KO: Ten Hag said his players had lacked belief in their thrashing by Man City, and Goodison Park perhaps isn't the best place for them to start rebuilding confidence: the Red Devils have only won three times here in their most recent 10 league visits. They have also been 4-0 down at halftime in two away league matches this season alone. They lost 3-0 here in 2015, and 4-0 in April 2019.

35 mins to KO: Ten Hag's changes are of little surprise: Malacia has been substituted at halftime in each of United's previous two games, while Martial and Rashford came off the bench to rescue a win at Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday. The bigger question is what sort of impact Casemiro will have at the heart of midfield, and whether Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes can recapture some form.

TEAM NEWS:

United have made four changes from the starting XI against Man City: Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro and Anthony Martial are in for Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho. Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench again.

Everton are largely as expected, with Anthony Gordon back in the attack and Dwight McNeil dropping out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the bench and could make his first appearance of the season.

100 mins to KO: United were destroyed by Manchester City in the derby last weekend but managed to score three goals of their own at the Etihad Stadium, something no visiting team has done in the top flight since February. They will need a little attacking sparkle today against Frank Lampard's Everton, who have only conceded seven goals in 2022/23, the best record of anyone in the division.

120 mins to KO: Manchester United are back in the UK and back in Premier League action against an Everton side who have, somehow, become one of the best defensive units in the business.

Everton vs. Manchester United betting odds

United are favourites for the victory here but not by a significant degree. After all, Lampard has made Everton tough to beat in recent weeks, and Calvert-Lewin's possible return will be a huge boost to a relatively goal-shy attack.

Given United are returning from European exploits and have looked shaky in defence in the past week, backing a score draw may not be a bad idea.
