"The creation of a logo is a very specific discipline because the IIHF Brand Manual defines its basic shape and necessary elements. Each country has the opportunity to bring a national flair," says Petr Bříza, President of the Organising Committee of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
At previous IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships , the logo was created as a separate element from the rest of the event look & feel. For the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, a design was created where the logo is the inspiration for the entire identity of the event. "Our task was to create a design that comes as close as possible to the emotions and passions associated with the unique celebration of ice hockey in the Czech Republic. We want to build on the 2015 IIHF WM ," says Petr Bříza.
As demonstrated in the identity concept, the puck will play the main role. "The puck is the physical heart of ice hockey, and metaphorically, so are the fans and their emotions. At the same time, the whole country of Czech Republic will become the heart of the hockey world for a three weeks. The logo is a combination of the puck and all the possible emotions associated with hockey," says Petr Bříza. It is not just one puck, but many. Most of them reflect the emotions and moods associated with a hockey game.
The national aspect is also symbolized by the Czech colors used in the logo.
The puck, the players, the fans, Czech Republic -all of this represents the beating heart of hockey during the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. These words are reflected in the design of the puck emoticons, as well as in the slogan of the Heart of the game
