Katy Perry celebrated for 'spectacular' singing, mushroom performance on 'SNL'

Caps off to Katy Perry.
The songstress appeared as the musical guest on NBC's "Saturday Night Live", trended on Twitter and was celebrated for her two performances. She gave viewers a taste of her Vegas residency, "Play," as promised. When Perry was announced as this weekend's musical act, she teased on Instagram, "Live from New York, it’s PLAY(.) Can’t wait to bring my slice of Sin City to the Big Apple (and ur (TV emoji))."
Saturday, she performed "When I'm Gone" dressed in red, layered fringe chaps and a coordinating mushroom hat, as she does for audiences at Resorts World. She also charmed with a slowed-down version of "Never Really Over."

"i didn’t think I would be able to love Never really over even more than I do but after hearing Katy Perry sing it in a whole new way I’m absolutely obsessed," one member of the Twitterverse raved.

Perry was even able to win a person over with the evening's songs and her theatrics. "Not really a #KatyPerry fan but I loved that whole mushroom in the forest performance on #SNL," the new fan posted.

Perry told her Instagram followers Saturday night that New York City gave her an icy reception. "flew into a blizzard to bring some heat to @nbcsnl," she wrote in a caption. "see u tonight."
Saturday's episode of the long-running sketch show was the fourth time Perry served as musical guest. She hosted in 2011.
