Celtics' move to acquire Kristaps Porzingis hits snag as three-team ...

A three-team trade that would have seen the Washington Wizards' Kristaps Porzingis traded to the Celtics and Boston guard and reigning Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon join the Los Angeles Clippers has fallen apart, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Wojnarowski added that the Wizards and Celtics are still working on a potential Porzinigis trade, but the Clippers will not be part of it. Porzingis has a one-year, $36 million player option — with a midnight deadline to pick — remaining on his deal with Washington that he must opt into for the potential trade to happen, ESPN reported.
Per longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein, the deal fell apart due to "concerns raised by the Clippers about Malcolm Brogdon's injury status."
According to multiple reports, the Wizards were slated to acquire Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari and Clippers forward Marcus Morris and guard Amir Coffey and the No. 30 overall pick (via Clippers) in the 2023 NBA draft in the deal.
Brogdon ― the 2022-23 NBA Sixth Man of The Year ― averaged 14.9 points per game last season in 67 games, the second most he's played in his career. Brogdon played through a partially torn tendon in his right arm during the playoffs that bothered him in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. He played 15 combined minutes across Games 5 and 7, and missed Game 6 of that series as Boston was eliminated.

Porzingis would add size and youth to the Celtics' front court. He is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-high 23 points per game plus 8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. However, the 7-foot-3 center has struggled with injuries since being drafted by the New York Knicks in 2015. He played 66 games last year, the most since the 2016-17 season, and missed the 2018-19 season with a torn ACL.
Washington, which already dealt away franchise star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, is making moves that signal a rebuild. The Wizards' third-leading scorer last season Kyle Kuzma also opted out of his contract on Tuesday.
