Luke Schenn shares his awesome words to former teammate Pat
They had an awesome conversation before dropping the gloves

Luke Schenn is loving life in Toronto. He started his career with the Maple Leafs in 2008 but left in 2012. The defenseman was recently re-acquired by the Leafs in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, and now, he’s one of the veterans in the team, and he sure doesn’t seem to mind playing as a 7th D man.

Schenn is doing great with the short time he gets on the ice, and he’s adding some well-needed depth to the squad.

Luke Schenn has talked openly and often about how much he enjoys it in Toronto and how much it means to him to be a Leaf—and last night displayed what he can contribute to a team.

In Toronto’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Schenn’s former team, he scored a goal, his first for the Leafs since 2012, but not only that.

As if the goal weren’t enough, he dropped the gloves with Pat Maroon in a true heavyweight tilt, and Schenn ended up dropping his former teammate to the ice.

It’s not often Pat Maroon gets beaten in fights, but Luke Schenn just made it look easy, and it was special in so many ways. Schenn is starting to prove Toronto made the right choice in signing him, but it also meant a fight between two former teammates who won two Stanley Cups together.

And in fact, Schenn and Maroon talked before the game, and this just says everything about hockey and why we love this sport so much.

“I talked to him this morning … ‘How’s your family?’ & that sort of thing,” he said, per Mark Masters. ”When you win together in any sport you’ll be friends for life but, in saying that, it’s competitive out there … no problem flipping the switch & they’re doing the same.”
