New venue, same matchup. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets cap a home-and-home tonight at Scotiabank Arena.
The pregame narrative: The Leafs handed the Jackets a 3-0 loss in Columbus last night, and we’re fading offence again tonight as the teams head north.

Blue Jackets vs. Maple Leafs picksBest Bet : Blue Jackets under 2 goals - regular time (+106)
We thought very little of the Blue Jackets’ offence entering last night’s matchup, and nothing about them has changed in 24ish hours since.
Columbus was shut out for a fifth time (the most in the Eastern Conference) and has now scored two or fewer regulation goals in four of its past five games. At 2.50 goals scored per game, Columbus has the least potent offence in the East.
Here’s one way to describe the scoring discrepancy in this matchup: Columbus doesn’t have a single 15-goal scorer yet this year. Toronto has five.
One notable difference in tonight’s game compared to Friday is that the Maple Leafs will likely slot inexperienced netminder Joseph Woll in the crease. Woll, 24, made four NHL starts last year but has spent this season entirely in the AHL.
Woll’s presence creates some uncertainty in this market, but we don’t expect Toronto to leave him hanging. In seven games played on zero rest this season, the Maple Leafs have held five of their opponents to two or fewer goals.
Key stat: With the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, Woll has a 2.36 GAA and a .930 SV% in 14 games.
Quick picksUnder 6.5 goals (-115): While fading the Blue Jackets’ scoring, we feel good about fading the overall total, too.
As long as Columbus is held to two or fewer goals, the Maple Leafs would need five or more to spoil this — and they’ve only scored that much in two of their past eight games. In the same span, Toronto’s games have gone under 6.5 goals five times.
The under is 29-22-2 in Maple Leafs games this year.
Blue Jackets over 25.5 shots (-112): We’ve spilled plenty of digital ink dogging the Blue Jackets’ offence, but this is a very reasonable line that even they should clear.
Columbus fired 30 shots on net last night — and hit this over in seven of their past nine games. Both times they came up short, they finished with exactly 25 shots. On the season, Columbus is averaging 28.9 shots per game.
