Nathan Fielder was in attendance for Game 1 between the New York Mets and San Diego Padres, and took in the disaster.

The New York Mets had not made it to the postseason since 2016, until this season. Hosting the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card best-of-three series, the Mets had the chance to show that they are contenders in the National League in Game 1 on Friday night.

Instead, New York got off to a disastrous start to their postseason, as starting pitcher Max Scherzer surrendered seven earned runs in less than five innings of work.

One of the people in attendance was comedian Nathan Fielder, star of HBO’s hit series “The Rehearsal.” Fielder looked like every Mets fan in Citi Field on Friday night — absolutely miserable.

For those wondering, Fielder was spotted smiling, as MLB’s official Twitter account shared.

There was not much smiling for Mets fans in Queens. Scherzer surrendered a two-run homer to Josh Bell to put the team in an early 2-0 hole. Things did not get any better, as he gave up a solo home run to Trent Grisham in the top of the second inning. Then, the top of the fifth inning happened. Scherzer gave up a three-run homer to Jurickson Profar and a solo blast to Manny Machado, increasing the Mets’ deficit to 7-0.

The seven earned runs that Scherzer gave up were the most he has allowed in a postseason game in his entire career.

Fielder essentially summed up the mood of all in Citi Field.
