As the deadline approaches, we'll keep you updated with the latest reporting and chatter concerning movement around the league.

The NBA trade deadline is nearing, and activity has already been unprecedented.

In the lead-up to the Feb. 6 deadline, all eyes were on the Heat's situation with Jimmy Butler before the Lakers and Mavericks executed the shocking deal that sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles and Anthony Davis to Dallas.

As the dust settled from the first blockbuster deal, the Kings swiftly moved De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs in a three-team deal that sent Zach LaVine to Sacramento while the Bulls acquired assets to shift their focus to the future.

With a wild weekend setting the tone, more teams may get in on the action, believing that the right deal might push them into a higher tier of contention. Conversely, a few teams looking to build beyond this year may part ways with win-now talent that no longer fits the short-term plans.

As the deadline approaches, we'll keep you updated with the latest reporting and chatter concerning movement around the league.

Warriors shifting trade focus from Kevin Durant to Jimmy Butler

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider

Golden State looks to have exited the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, turning its attention to Jimmy Butler. The Suns star is viewed as being unattainable — largely due to his lack of interest in a return to his former franchise.

Butler has been on the outs for weeks in Vice City and looks increasingly likely to make a move, although his favored destination is rumored to be Phoenix.

Kevin Durant uninterested in Warriors reunion

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider

Stein reports "Durant has some serious reservations about a second Warriors stint if he were to be shipped there," but added that "the Warriors might have the gumption to trade for Durant anyway ... even if they believe he is disinclined to come back."

This report comes after ESPN's Shams Charania shared that Golden State is "legitimately calling about every All-Star player," in advance of the deadline. The Warriors seem intent on adding star power to breathe life into a season of ups and downs.

Durant's disinclination for a reunion may signal the end of trade talks, per multiple reports.

As Golden State pursues Phoenix's Kevin Durant, the two-time Warriors NBA Finals MVP has no desire in a reunion and does not want to go back. Reporting for NBA Today: pic.twitter.com/tNeTzw2gCf

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 5, 2025

Here is the latest. It is highly unlikely now that the Suns will trade Kevin Durant to Golden State. KD does not want to play for the Warriors he wants to stay in Phoenix. This trade had a lot of momentum in the last 24 hours but that momentum is lost.

Jimmy Butler could remain with the Heat past the deadline

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider

As the saga continues in South Florida, the Heat have not been able to find the deal they are seeking for Butler.

With that in mind, Stein reports that "we have to start seriously considering the possibility that Butler remains with Miami past Thursday's 3 PM ET horn." The deadline may pass and Butler could remain with Miami, meaning both parties may need to find a resolution to get him back on the court.

Pelicans trade Daniel Theis to Thunder

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Shams Charania, ESPN

New Orleans is trading Theis and draft compensation to Oklahoma City, per Charania. The trade moves the Pelicans below the luxury tax.

Theis, 32, has been in his first season with the Pelicans. He's averaged 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.3 minutes per game this season, starting in nine of his 38 game appearances. Theis will now provide some center depth behind Isaiah Hartenstein for the Thunder.

The Warriors have discussed trading Draymond Green

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Sam Amick, The Athletic

With the Warriors seeking another star, trading Green is unlikely but the notion has "100% been discussed internally," Amick shared on FanDuelTV's "Run It Back."

Green is in his 13th season with the Warriors and is on the books for $24.1 million this season.

Celtics trade Jaden Springer to Rockets

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Shams Charania, ESPN

Boston is trading Springer and a 2030 second-round pick to Houston, per Charania. The teams are also exchanging heavily protected second-rounders.

Springer, 22, was a member of Boston's championship team in 2024 but was not in the rotation. He's come into his own as of late and turned heads with his clear potential as a point-of-attack defender. He now has an opportunity to grow into a bigger role with the up-and-coming Rockets.

Golden State's interest in making a Kevin Durant deal 'is very real'

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Sam Amick, The Athletic

Amick's appearance on "Run It Back" also included more reporting to support the notion that the Warriors are trying to facilitate a reunion with Durant.

76ers trade KJ Martin to the Pistons

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Marc Stein, NBA

The 76ers are sending KJ Martin and two second-round picks to the Pistons. The draft picks are a 2027 second-rounder via the Bucks and a 2031 second-rounder from the Mavericks.

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Shams Charania, ESPN

The Bucks are sending Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson and a pick swap to the Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and second-round draft compensation, according to Charania.

Kuzma joins Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard in Milwaukee as the newest third option on the team. He's averaging 15.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Middleton has struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons, and only has appeared in 23 games so far during the 2024-25 campaign, starting in just seven. He's averaging 12.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

Suns have begun discussions regarding Kevin Durant across the league

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Brian Windhorst, ESPN

The Suns "have begun entertaining 'should we trade Kevin Durant?' and have begun those discussions across the league," said Windhorst on Wednesday's edition of ESPN's "Get Up."

Golden State is discussing the possibility of bringing Durant back nearly six years after he left as a free agent. The deal could be a massive blockbuster that sees Jimmy Butler get his wish and land with the Suns.

Windhorst did not speak definitively but said that multiple scenarios are at play. The only certainties are that Devin Booker and Stephen Curry will not be moved.

Brooklyn 'unlikely to trade Cam Johnson' before deadline

Date: Feb. 5

Source: Brian Lewis, New York Post

While the Nets are focused on their future, they "have not been shopping Johnson," according to Lewis.

Johnson's name has been one of the most popular in trade talks. The soon-to-be 29-year-old is averaging a career-best 19.4 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent from 3-point range at high volume.

Lewis' report adds that Nets GM Sean Marks has taken calls on Johnson but the team is not actively seeking a deal. As Lewis put it, "Marks is seemingly more than content to stand pat."

Suns, Wizards engage in talks regarding Jusuf Yurkic-Jonas Valanciunas swap

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Evan Sidery, Forbes

Jusuf Nurkic's contract — which will see him field more than $19 million in 2025-26 — is looking increasingly untenable for a Suns side still hoping to add some pieces into the fold. Enter Jonas Valanciunas, who Sidery reports could be included in a trade to get Nurkic's contract off the books.

Valanciunas' arrival could very well be short lived; Sidery claims that Valanciunas could be flipped elsewhere as Phoenix looks for additional trade chips in what is shaping up to be a seismic deadline for the floundering roster.

Rockets 'want to give their young team a playoff shot', not expected to sacrifice future for Kevin Durant

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Marc Stein, NBA Insider

Multiple reports suggest that Houston wants to make a move for Durant. But according to Marc Stein, that might not quite be the case.

The Rockets are believed to want to let their young core lift them into postseason play. Houston, led by first-time All-Star Alperen Sengun, second-year maven Ausar Thompson and a cadre of other young talents, sit at 32-17, good for third in the Western Conference.

"The Rockets," Stein writes, "want to give their young team a playoff shot.

"There have been no signals yet to suggest a possible audible at this deadline."

Houston is teeming with youthful assets, both on the current roster (Sengun, Thompson, Tari Eason, Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, etc.) and via draft capital. Among the most valuable pieces the Rockets own? A trio of unprotected first-round picks from 2027, 2029 and 2031 belonging to...the Suns.

Suns covet Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga in potential Kevin Durant deal

Date: Feb. 4

Source: David Aldridge, Sam Amick and Anthony Slater, The Athletic

The Warriors have expressed interest in reuniting Durant with Stephen Curry. For them to do so, they'd have to give up a pretty penny.

For the Suns to part way with Durant, they'd have to receive quite the offer back. According to The Athletic, Phoenix would seek Draymond Green – who shares a positive relationship with Suns owner and fellow Michigan State alum Mat Ishbia — and Jonathan Kuminga, among other assets.

The Suns still retain an interest in Butler, who has reportedly rebuffed every non-Phoenix-related offer in the hopes of landing in the desert. With Bradley Beal unwilling to waive his no-trade clause, a Durant trade could facilitate a pathway for Phoenix to acquire the assets needed to pry Butler out of Vice City. Watch this space...

Mavericks, Rockets among sides linked with Kevin Durant

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Sam Amick, The Athletic

The Warriors aren't the only side interested in Durant's services, per The Athletic's Sam Amick. Dallas has made its desire for the future Hall of Famer known — the Nico Harrison-led side is believed to want to pair the two-time champion with fellow standouts Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

The same can be said about Houston, whose swift rebuild has some in the Rockets' front office believing a veteran star like Durant could propel them into the title conversation.

Famed trainer Drew Hanlen stokes flames with cryptic tweet

Date: Feb.4

Source: Drew Hanlen, NBA trainer

Trainer to the stars Drew Hanlen appeared to suggest further blockbuster moves could be on the horizon, tweeting the following as trade rumors swirled:

"Buckle up," Hanlen wrote.

Given his connection with star players like Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton, you'd have to imagine Hanlen has it on pretty good authority what could be in the works. Expect more fireworks ahead of Thursday's deadline.

Kevin Durant downgraded to doubtful vs. Thunder as trade rumors intensify

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider

There's increasing belief that Kevin Durant could be headed to pastures new come the end of the trade deadline. The Suns star has been linked with a handful of teams in recent days, most notably the Warriors.

Phoenix did little to quell the speculation, downgrading Durant's status to doubtful ahead of their duel with Oklahoma City on Wednesday night. The official reason listed for Durant's likely absence is a left ankle sprain. Durant played 46 minutes against the Blazers on Feb. 3.

Sixers-KJ Martin split imminent, per reports

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Brett Siegel, Clutch Points

Joel Embiid's return to the floor won't stop Philadelphia from making moves. The team is reportedly shopping 24-year old wing KJ Martin.

Martin, a former second-round pick and the son of former All-Star and No. 1 overall pick Kenyon Martin, is averaging 6.4 points and 3.0 rebounds on 61.6 percent shooting this season. The Sixers announced that they were leaving him out of the lineup for their matchup with the Mavericks on Tuesday evening. The reason listed? "Trade pending."

The Raptors are 16-33 on the season and are in "wait-and-see mode" regarding the deadline. After moving Anthony Davis, the Lakers are in search of a quality big man and Poeltl fits that bill, but Toronto might be seeking a return package that L.A. cannot offer.

Landing in Phoenix is 'the only thing' Jimmy Butler is focused on

Date: Feb. 4

Source: Brian Windhorst, ESPN

As the Butler saga continues, Windhorst reported that Butler only wants to be dealt to the Suns, adding that there is no role or promise any other team could make to entice him.

Matching Butler's salary may stand in the way of a deal but he does have leverage in the form of a player option for the 2025-26 season.

Hawks, Warriors have expressed interest in Paul George

Date: Feb. 3

Source: Keith Pompey, Philadelphia Inquirer

As George's first season in Philadelphia has not gone as planned, the marriage between the two parties could end sooner than expected.

Pompey reports that Atlanta and Golden State "have expressed interest in acquiring George ahead of Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline." The Hawks are searching for answers after a season-ending injury to rising star Jalen Johnson while the Warriors are looking to supplement Stephen Curry with more talent.

During Tuesday's episode of ESPN's "The Jump," Marks said to "keep an eye on" Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic and Coby White as players who could be on the way out of Chicago.

For Vucevic, the Warriors are a potential landing spot. Things are a bit more complex for Ball and White, though ESPN's Brian Windhorst indicated Ball could be a buyout candidate.

Warriors 'have dreams' of pairing Stephen Curry with Kevin Durant and LeBron James

Date: Feb. 3

Source: Jake Fischer, NBA insider

Jimmy Butler 'unwilling' to sign extension with Warriors, potentially killing trade talks

Date: Feb. 2

Source: Brian Windhorst, ESPN

Butler may not be willing to play just anywhere after all.

With Butler's player option for 2025-26 and impending free agency, interested teams are looking for some type of commitment to ensure they get the most out of a potential trade. Butler "communicated to the Warriors that he's unwilling to sign an extension there," per Windhorst.

As such, any interest from Golden State has waned for the moment. If Butler changes course, things could reignite.
