Here's a look at the updated playoff picture for Week 18 finale of the 2022 NFL season, including all the current postseason seed positions and the remaining contenders.

The 2022 NFL regular season is down to one final week in 2023.

Although the playoff picture for the AFC and NFC won't be finalized until Sunday, it's time to keep looking at the updated standings and which teams would be in the playoffs if the season ended ahead of Week 18.

Here's a breakdown of the NFL's latest playoff field and seedings, as well as a look at the contenders on the brink of joining the postseason party:

POWER RANKINGS: Chiefs, 49ers overtake Eagles, Bills as new 1-2; Packers, Steelers, Patriots cling to life for Week 18

NFL standings for Week 18 AFC playoff picture

1. Kansas City Chiefs (14-3), champions, AFC West. The Chiefs clinched the top seed along with home-field advantage and the lone bye with a win over the Raiders on Saturday. They will host the AFC championship game, unless the Bills also win on Sunday, meaning that game would be played at a neutral site.

2. Buffalo Bills (12-3), champions, AFC East. The Bills lost control of the No. 1 seed after the NFL ruled that their suspended Week 17 game at the Bengals wouldn't be completed. They could fall to No. 3 with a loss and a Bengals win because of a common-games tiebreaker.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (11-4), champions, AFC North. Not having a result in Week 17 means they also were positioned to take the division title ahead of facing the second-place Ravens. The Bengals can jump up to No. 2 over the Bills but cannot fall lower than this seed.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8), champions, AFC South. The Jaguars clinched the division title with a come-from-behind 20-16 victory over the Titans at home on Saturday night. Jacksonville made the postseason in Trevor Lawrence's second year as its QB and Doug Pederson's first as its head coach.

5. Los Angeles Chargers (10-6), second place, AFC West. The Chargers will stay here locked into the top wild-card position with a win over the Broncos on Sunday or a Ravens loss. They could slide back to No. 6 with a loss and a Ravens win.

6. Baltimore Ravens (10-6), second place, AFC North. The Ravens can no longer catch the Bengals in the division race as it stands. They can still move up a spot with a win over the Bengals, who might resting key players, and a Chargers loss.

7. New England Patriots (8-8), second place, AFC East. The Patriots will make the playoffs again as the final wild card with a win over the Bills on Sunday. They also can get in with a loss, but in that case, they would need the Dolphins and Steelers to lose and the Jaguars to win.

8. Miami Dolphins (8-8), third place, AFC East9. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8), third place, AFC North

The Dolphins would get in with a win over the Jets and a Patriots loss to the Bills. The Steelers would get in with a win over the Browns and losses by the Dolphins and Patriots.

10. New York Jets (7-9), last place, AFC East11. Cleveland Browns (7-9), last place, AFC North12. Tennessee Titans (7-10), second place, AFC South13. Las Vegas Raiders (6-11), third place, AFC West14. Indianapolis Colts (4-11-1), third place, AFC South15. Denver Broncos (4-12), last place, AFC West16. NFC playoff picture

1. Philadelphia Eagles (13-3), first place, NFC East. The Eagles, expected to have Jalen Hurts back at quarterback, will clinch the division with a win over the Giants, who have nothing for which to play as the locked-in No. 6 seed. They also can win the division with a loss and a Cowboys loss. The Eagles can fall to No. 2 behind the 49ers or No. 5 behind the Cowboys, but they cannot fall to No. 3 behind Vikings.

2. San Francisco 49ers (12-4), champions, NFC West. The 49ers can still get the top seed with a win, an Eagles loss and a Cowboys win. That would give them the division-record tiebreaker over the Cowboys for No. 1. They would stay here with a win if the Eagles win, and with a loss if the Vikings lose. They can fall to No. 3 by losing to the Cardinals if the Vikings beat the Bears.

3. Minnesota Vikings (12-4), champions, NFC North. The Vikings cannot get to No. 1 with a win, because at 13-4, their record would match either the Eagles or Cowboys as NFC East champions and the 49ers. They lost to both the Eagles and Cowboys head-to-head and lose the conference-record tiebreaker to the 49ers. They can get back to No. 2 with a win and a 49ers loss.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8), champions, NFC South. The Buccaneers clinched the division with their home win over the Panthers in Week 17. They are locked into this final division-winning seed no matter what happens on Sunday.

5. Dallas Cowboys (12-4), second place, NFC East. The Cowboys can win the division with a win over the Commanders and an Eagles, and would grab the No. 1 seed in that scenario should the 49ers also lose. They will stay here with a loss to the Commanders or an Eagles win.

6. New York Giants (9-6-1), third place, NFC East. The Giants clinched their wild-card berth behind the Eagles and Cowboys with their home win over the Colts in Week 17. The locked into this second wild-card seed no matter what happens on Sunday.

7. Seattle Seahawks (8-8), second place, NFC West. The Seahawks can clinch the final wild-card spot by beating the Rams at home if the Lions beat the Packers on Sunday night, giving them the head-to-head tiebreaker thanks to a Week 4 at Detroit. The Seahawks also can get in with a tie should the Lions and Packers also tie.

Who's in the hunt?

8. Detroit Lions (8-8), second place, NFC North8. Green Bay Packers (8-8), third place, NFC North

The Lions can clinch the final wild-card spot only with a win over or tie with the Packers coupled with the Seahawks losing. They need to have a better record than the Seahawks and an even record with the Packers.

The Packers can clinch the final wild-card spot with a win over the Lions, which would give them the conference-recored tiebreaker over the Seahawks. The Packers would be eliminated with a loss or a tie.

Who's out?

10. Washington Commanders (7-8-1), last place, NFC East11. New Orleans Saints (7-9), last place, NFC South12. Carolina Panthers (6-10), third place, NFC South13. Atlanta Falcons (6-10), last place, NFC South14. Los Angeles Rams (5-11), third place, NFC West15. Arizona Cardinals (4-12), last place, NFC West16. Chicago Bears (3-13), last place, NFC North

The Commanders, Saints and Panthers were the three most recent teams to be eliminated in Week 17. The Bears can the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft with a loss and a Texans win.
