Severe thunderstorm watch issued for southeast Saskatchewan

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of southeast Saskatchewan, including the Regina, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Redvers, Stoughton, Indian Head, Kipling and Moosomin areas.
According to the advisory, issued Monday just after 11:40 a.m., conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that might be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
A north to south surface trough of low pressure splits the province this afternoon, the advisory stated. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along this trough and track east into Manitoba this evening.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
