UFC 278 Results: Edwards stuns Usman
On a card featuring two former champions, a former title contender and a dominant champion, the bettor with the best betting odds to win is light heavyweight Tyson Pedro, a man who has none of the accolades previously listed.
According to BetMGM, Pedro is a -750 favorite to beat Harry Hunsucker in the opening bout of the UFC 278 main card. This is despite the fact that Pedro has lost three of his past five fights.
However, Pedro's April victory over Ike Villanueva was arguably the most impressive of his career, as it was his first bout in over three years. The Australian, who possesses a massive 79-inch reach, suffered a severe ACL tear in his 2018 loss to Mauricio Rua.
"The initial time I tore my ACL completely, a complete rupture, I did nine months of a return after they did the hamstring graft," Pedro told ESPN in March. "And then I went to New Zealand after I got another fight locked in [in 2020] and when I was training with Carlos [Ulberg] and the CKB boys, I got a weird trip and it tore the meniscus."
After completing multiple long and frustrating rehabs, Pedro quickly made up for lost time in April, scoring a first-round TKO over Villanueva.
His Saturday night opponent, Hunsucker, has lost three of his past four fights and is making his light heavyweight debut after a dropdown from heavyweight.
