UFC 315: Belal Muhammad Lands Jack Della Maddalena Title ...

UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will finally get to defend his title after the UFC shuffled the deck to find him a new opponent.
Muhammad was originally set to face Shavkat Rakhmonov in December, only for a foot infection to put that bout back onto the back burner.

A rearranged matchup between the pair was thought to be in the works. But with Rakhmonov now injured and unable to compete, "Remember The Name" found himself without a dance partner once again.
The UFC matchmakers have since been to work and come up with a fresh test for the newly-minted 170-pound champion, with Australian contender Jack Della Maddalena set to face Muhammad in the main event of UFC 315, which takes place at Montreal's Bell Centre on May 10.
It's a bout that will see Muhammad put his title reign, and his 11-fight unbeaten streak, on the line against Della Maddalena, who is 17-2 as a pro, with a perfect 7-0 record inside the Octagon.
The Aussie's last outing saw him defeat Brazilian contender Gilbert Burns via third-round knockout, and he was booked to face former champion Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC London on March 22.
But now, Della Maddalena has been switched from England to Canada and upgraded to a title opportunity as he faces Muhammad, who dethroned Edwards at UFC 304 last year.

Prior to that win, the Chicago native had defeated a host of contenders, including Demian Maia, Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, Vicente Luque, Sean Brady, and Burns before defeating Edwards on the scorecards in Manchester to capture the title.
As a result of Della Maddalena being moved to UFC 315, former champion Edwards will get a new test for his March 22 date in London, with fellow welterweight contender Sean Brady stepping in to face the Englishman in the main event at The O2 Arena.
Edwards is looking to bounce back following his below-par performance in his title loss to Muhammad at UFC 304 and was all set to face fellow striker Della Maddalena in the English capital next month.
Now he'll have to make a quick pivot in his preparation as he gets set to face Brady, a grappling specialist who has claimed three of his last five UFC victories by submission.
