Wind advisory issued for Windsor area

Environment Canada has issued a high wind advisory for the Windsor and Essex County area.
The wind warning is in in effect for the entire region throughout Saturday.
Strong winds are expected to begin this afternoon and continue through this evening. Strong southwesterly winds gusts are expected to reach up to 90 or 100 km/h, according to the agency.
There is also the risk of a brief thunderstorm late this afternoon with isolated wind gusts greater than 100 km/h possible with any thunderstorm.
Environment Canada has cautioned high winds may toss loose objects, cause tree branches to break and that some utility outages may occur.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority has also issued a shoreline warning for Lake Erie and Pelee Island due to the anticipated high winds.
There is a possibility of shoreline erosion due to waves and spray with potential damage to shoreline structures throughout the area, according to ERCA.
