Freezing rain and winter storm warnings issued

SASKATCHEWAN - If you aren’t under a freezing rain warning, chances are you are under a winter storm watch.

Environment Canada says hazardous winter conditions are expected with a band of freezing rain developing late this afternoon, to be followed be followed by heavy snow lasting through Sunday morning. Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is expected.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Under the winter storm warning are places such as the Lloydminster/Lashburn/Marshall areas, the Maidstone area, the Saskatoon area, the Battlefords, Blaine Lake area, Melville, Churchbridge, Norquay and Kamsack.
