WINTER STORM WARNING issued for the Lakeland region ...

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the Lakeland region.

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A band of freezing rain will develop late this afternoon. This will then be followed by heavy snow lasting through Sunday morning. Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is expected.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
